Third Party
Third party is the least amount of cover you can legally have to drive your car on the road.
You are covered for causing damage to another person or their property in an accident.
It doesn't cover you for
any injury or damage to you or your own car.
Third Party, Fire and Theft
Similar to third party only cover but as the cover suggests, you are also covered if your car is damaged or destroyed by fire or stolen.
If you have a car of little value, it may be worthwhile buying a third party or third party, fire and theft policy only. The cost of fully comprehensive policies may cost more than the actual value of your vehicle.
Fully Comprehensive
With fully comprehensice car insurance you should be covered for all eventualities.
If you are involved in an accident, your insurance company should pay for repairs to both your own vehicle and also the other driver's car.
Fully comprehensive also includes third party, fire and theft cover.
This is the most expensive option but by paying more you have peace of mind that everything is covered.
